The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.

Online Platforms Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Modifications

Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Experiences

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Marketplace Information

The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
